Uncovering the Truth Behind the Definition of Insanity

How happy are you with your current situation? Have you met every goal you've set for yourself? Are there things you wish you could've done differently?

Has everything in your life gone exactly as you've planned?

Or have you reached a point where you want to pull your hair out and scream over the sheer frustration of life's events?

Well, here's the bad news: You can't change what's already happened.

But, here's the good news: You CAN change what happens going forward.

Insanity has been defined as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. Funny how quickly we forget that as we lead our lives.

How many times have you waited for something to change in your life, but never took any action that could dictate that change? It happens all the time.

Here's an example: You want a raise at work. You feel you've proven that you're worth more than what you're being compensated, and you expect more in return for your efforts. So you say to yourself, "I'm not doing a lick more work than I already do until I'm given a raise." Then, you sit and wait for it to come to you as if you're entitled and the your mind can be read.

And when it doesn't happen, you complain about it to your friends and co-workers over a couple beers at happy hour on Friday evening.

That's insanity. Your level of compensation is set for your current output. Why would it increase if your output doesn't? Why not put forth the extra effort that gets you noticed?

This is a small example, but this sort of attitude stems from the way you were programmed to think. The majority of people are taught to live within their comfort zones, don't take too many risks, don't make bold moves, and live a life of conventional thought. In actuality, everyone wants more...they're just afraid to go against the grain to get it!

Therefore, it's insane to believe that anything will change in your life if you aren't willing to change yourself first. Living a life within a shell of a comfort zone fueled by convential thought will get you exactly what you have right now.

If you're content with where you are, so be it. But don't ask for, or expect, anything to improve if you keep doing the things you've already done over and over again.

You are your own person, and you have the freedom to rely on yourself. If you've earned a "status quo" lifestyle up to this point and you want to rise above that, you have the ability to take action and rely on your God-given qualities to make changes!

But no one can do it for you. Before anything can change in your life, you have to redefine "conventional thought" for yourself to the point where it stands for your everything YOU believe in, not the definition society has pre-programmed you to believe is correct.

Going forward, when you want something to change in your life, don't pull your hair out and wish for it to happen. Look within yourself and do what is necessary to make it happen. Be your own person and take control of your destiny!
